The United States is interested in a possible future meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American Leader Donald Trump to be positive, said Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"Both sides have expressed readiness to meet at some point, but at the moment the meeting is not scheduled ... In order for the meeting to be successful, obviously, we want this meeting to be about something positive," he told reporters on his way to Saudi Arabia.
The transcript of the conversation was distributed by the State Department.
Rubio added that although Trump's meeting with the head of the Russian state has not yet been scheduled, the head of the State Department cannot predetermine the schedule of the American leader.
