Azerbaijan refused to extradite to Russia ex-judge Elena Khakhaleva, reports Minval.

As reported by EADaily on February 4, detained in Baku is a former judge from Krasnodar Elena Khakhaleva, who is wanted in Russia, sent under house arrest. The Azerbaijani authorities arrested her on January 27.
The scandal around Khakhaleva began in 2017. According to media reports, the guests at her daughter's wedding were allegedly entertained by singers Vera Brezhneva, Iosif Kobzon, Nikolai Baskov and Valery Meladze. Lawyer Sergei Zhorin wrote on social networks that the cost of the celebration amounted to about $ 2 million.
The criminal case against the "golden judge" was opened on May 17, 2022. Khakhaleva is charged with fraud and forgery. The RF IC suspected her of embezzling 1 million rubles. Khakhaleva was arrested in absentia and put on the international wanted list, she was given a preventive measure in the form of two months of arrest from the moment of actual detention.
After the detention of Khakhaleva in Baku reported that the Russia has requested a package of documents on her charges, and after receiving a response, Baku will make a decision regarding the defendant, including extradition.
