A member of the Ukrainian delegation for the first negotiations with Russia, Denis Kireev, was shot dead after a conversation with the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, in 2022. This was stated by Medinsky himself in an interview with RT, published today, June 9.
Kireev was shot dead in the center of Kiev by members of the Security Service of Ukraine.
"After the first negotiations. Then they had a small delegation — five or six people. And one of them was killed immediately after the first negotiations. The Security Service of Ukraine shot him right in the center of Kiev. They don't deny it," Medinsky said.
He said that he talked with Kireyev during a break between meetings in full view of other members of the Kiev delegation.
"It was February 28. They announced a break: someone went to smoke, someone to the toilet, someone to drink coffee. And I stayed at the bar, it was empty. I stood next to Kireev, we talked about life in the Crimea," Medinsky said.
In the next round of negotiations, Kireev was no longer there. His death became known in early March 2022. Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Dubinsky said that the man was killed by SBU officers during detention on charges of treason.
