On August 27, a joint briefing was held in Sukhum by the President of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, and the first Deputy head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kiriyenko.

Gunba thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin and Sergey Kiriyenko for the decisions that were the result of a well-developed joint work. Gunba noted the importance of opening the "We are Together" center, which creates conditions for creative projects and a community of people who think for the future. This, according to the president, directly affects the main industry — tourism, allowing you to switch from seasonal to year-round recreation. Despite all the difficulties, the tourist flow to Abkhazia in 2026 has maintained its position, and in some areas has grown, Gunba stated.

Kiriyenko, for his part, said that "on behalf of the President of Russia, a unique decision has been made": the increased fee for obtaining Russian citizenship (up to 50 thousand rubles) will not be applied to residents of Abkhazia. After amending the legislation in the autumn of 2026, the fee for Abkhaz citizens will remain at a maximum of 5 thousand rubles.

Also, from September 1 to October 16, 2026, the Russian Presidential Grants Fund is holding the second season of the Creators of Abkhazia contest with a fund of 150 million rubles. Kiriyenko noted that this money was allocated only for Abkhazia, no one else can claim it.

In addition, an agreement was reached to launch the second season of the Hospitable Abkhazia contest with Russian financial support.

Kiriyenko also said that by the decision of the President of Russia, 245 million rubles were allocated from his reserve fund to organize hot meals for elementary school students in Abkhazia.
