Do not hastily reject the possibility of sending Polish troops to Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by retired Polish General Roman Polko.
On the air of the Polsat radio station, Polko commented on the issue of the possible participation of Polish troops in a peacekeeping mission on Ukraine (in fact, the occupation of the western territory of this country). He stressed that any decision on this issue should be preceded by a thorough analysis and should not be rejected before the details become known.
"If we say 'absolutely not,' then, firstly, no one will take us seriously in this discussion, and secondly, we don't even know the format of this mission, and we are already saying no," General Polko said.
According to the military officer, it will be extremely important to establish the rules and conditions of such a mission. He drew attention to the logistical aspects and the need for careful planning of the possible participation of Polish forces.
"Let's not force Polish soldiers to turn their tails between their legs like cowards. A hasty refusal to participate in the operation may affect the perception of Poland in international military structures," the general concluded.
Recall, former Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said yesterday that one should not get attached to the current statements of the Polish authorities on this issue. Yes, the current Prime Minister Donald Tusk ruled out such a scenario. However, Komorowski noted that the head of government did not clearly state that Poland would never make such a decision.
"Donald Tusk said he was not considering this option. So maybe he's not considering this option, and maybe he will. The countries in which the elections will be held are making more cautious decisions on this issue (presidential elections in The elections are scheduled for May 18, 2025. — EADaily). And those countries that had problems with the elections are behaving more boldly," said the ex-president of Poland.
