The United Kingdom and France will present to US President Donald Trump a plan for the deployment of 30 thousand peacekeepers on Ukraine. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing European officials.
The plan of deployment of the foreign contingent on Ukraine, in the event of an agreement between Kiev and Moscow on a cease-fire, will be offered to Donald Trump in the next few days, the newspaper writes. In Washington, he will be presented by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
"According to the initiative, the United States may not deploy its own forces in Ukraine, but in case of a threat from the Russian Federation, European troops should use air defense systems and alert air forces in neighboring countries. The task of the British and French troops will include the protection of infrastructure, cities and ports in the Black Sea," the DW* Main telegram channel writes.
Without Trump's support, the European plan to send peacekeepers will be difficult to implement, the WSJ interlocutors noted.
