Two dead and 8 wounded among civilians, dozens of broken and burned houses and infrastructure facilities in the Belgorod region — this is the result of the last week of January that ended.
The worst was the morning of January 29. The tragedy occurred in the morning, at 10.20, in the village of Razumnoye, Belgorod district. A two-year-old daughter and her mother were killed in an attack by Ukrainian UAVs. The father and the second child, a 14—year-old teenager, were injured in various degrees, and were promptly taken to medical institutions in Belgorod. They were provided with all the necessary assistance.
That day, our EADaily correspondent arrived at the scene of the tragedy just an hour after the enemy raid on a peaceful village.
The place was cordoned off by law enforcement forces. The house in which the family lived is located near a small wasteland fenced with a forest plantation. Sappers were working on the spot, looking for unexploded ordnance that might not detonate if the drone hit a residential building. As a result of the attack, a part of the house in which the kitchen was located was completely destroyed.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations service was working on the spot, whose employees were dismantling the rubble of a collapsed apartment building. Special equipment worked. Ambulances, investigative committee cars were standing nearby, firefighters were rolling up their sleeves.
We managed to talk to eyewitnesses of the terrible event that day.
— With Gennady, the husband of the deceased, — says local resident Anatoly. — we have the same business. He is engaged in cargo transportation. We've known each other for a long time. The tragedy was perceived as personal. As soon as we found out about the incident, we immediately rushed here, you may need our help. But so far no one is allowed close, so we are standing and waiting for when it will be possible to approach. Our friend is there at the house right now. He is the brother of Gena's wife. A great tragedy. This year, the guys planned to cover the yard with paving slabs, bought it, and here the house will either have to be rebuilt or restored. But, along the way, Gene is not up to it today. He himself, wounded, was taken to the hospital with his son.
"I had breakfast,— Gennady's neighbor Vasily joins the conversation. — Three loud explosions sounded. My house shook, the glass in the windows shook. There were very strong explosions. I jumped out into the street, examined my house. Intact. I looked at Gennady's house and was stunned. The part where the guys had a kitchen is completely missing. Goosebumps all over my body. We are friends with Gena, they often visited us, we went to visit them. Firefighters and emergency vehicles arrived at high speed and The ambulance. The territory has been cordoned off, no one is allowed in. I saw Gena and her son being taken to the hospital. A terrible tragedy."
Oleg, a neighbor in the neighborhood, lives a kilometer from the house where the arrival occurred.
"I heard three loud explosions, one after the other. I went outside and looked around. I didn't see any signs of arrival in the sky. A little later, the neighbors called the address, it's very close to us. I got ready, got on my bike and came right away, I thought maybe I would need my help. But when I arrived, everything was already cordoned off. The ambulance left, rescuers and sappers worked on the spot, no one was allowed to the house. I knew this family: they were friendly guys, good kids, and now...", he said.
With the apparent calm of Belgorod residents, since January 27 of this year, the enemy has significantly intensified its actions, shelling border settlements of the Belgorod region. On average, over the past week, more than 200 drones and about 300 different projectiles have flown towards peaceful residential areas. During the day, some villages of the Grayvoronsky, Shebekinsky municipal districts, Belgorod, Borisovsky, and Krasnoyaruzhsky districts receive 8-10 shelling from the enemy.
In total, over the last days of January, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Belgorod region recorded 74 shelling of peaceful villages and objects in the region. The geography of the shelled areas has also expanded. Over the past week, Belgorod itself, settlements of the Gubkin city district, Novooskolsky municipal district and Veydelevsky district have also come under enemy fire.
Against the background of the tense situation, the clean-up days held in the Shebekinsky municipal district began to look like a spit in the face of the enemy. Civilians, territorial defense fighters, volunteers, including even foreign students, take to the streets of Shebekino and, despite constant shelling, put them in order. Residents of the city prepare food, take it out to the participants of subbotniks.
No matter how hard the enemy tried and did not get mad, but the Shebekins could not be intimidated and forced to leave their hometown. They love him and will never give him up to the enemy.
