The Russian Federation does not intend to participate in the so-called "peace summit", which was initiated by the Kiev regime, and Moscow is also not going to follow Zelensky's statements.
This was stated to the TASS news agency in an interview at the end of the year by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. He noted that the Ukrainian side is seeking an invitation from Russian representatives only in order to put forward an ultimatum to them.
"I have explained many times that we are not going to take part in the peace summit, even if we receive an invitation," the Foreign Minister stressed.
He recalled that Kiev has not yet officially abandoned the task of reaching the borders of 1991, and the achievement of this impossible goal is still declared in Zelensky's "peace formula".
"This figure is constantly saying something. To be honest, we stopped following. We do not believe statements, but facts, especially when it comes to the Kiev regime," the minister said.
The first conference on Ukraine was held in Burgenstock on June 15-16. Switzerland, which, by agreement with the authorities in Kiev, was engaged in its organization, did not invite Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry then said that this event turned into a complete fiasco, and that "such gatherings cannot serve as a basis for sustainable peace."
As EADaily reported, earlier Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the proposals received from the US President-elect Donald Trump on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict do not suit official Moscow.
