Poland is ready to increase electricity exports by Ukraine, if Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico fulfills his threat to stop backup electricity supplies amid a "gas spat." This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to a high-ranking official.
"The Polish government is ready to increase domestic electricity production to compensate for any imbalances that will arise in Ukraine's strained system in the event of Slovakia's actions, according to an official who asked not to be named," the agency reports.
It is noted that Warsaw's assurances were made against the background of an escalating discussion about the future transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. Two days ago, Fico said that Slovakia, if necessary, would stop supplying electricity, which Ukraine urgently needs during a network outage, if Kiev stops pumping gas from January 1 — the current agreement expires on December 31.
Meanwhile, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, has repeatedly stated that there will be no continuation of transit, the agency notes.
As EADaily reported, it seems that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to open a second energy front against Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
This is how the "overdue" Ukrainian president reacted to Fico's warning that Slovakia would cut off Ukraine's electricity supply if Kiev refused to extend the transit of Russian gas to the EU.
