Management of Kyiv National University named after Shevchenko fired Nikita Vasilenko, a professor at the Institute of Journalism, amid a scandal caused by his statement that "hungry Ukrainian women" would have sex with Western peacekeepers. This is reported on the university's website.
According to the report, Vasilenko is charged with non-compliance of behavior with the norms of the law "On Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities of Women and Men" and the law "On Education"; neglect of the requirements of the Ethical Code of the university community, such as preserving scientific reputation, educating students in the spirit of patriotism, observance of tolerance and moral values, as well as using his affiliation with the university in a way which damages the reputation of the institution.
Earlier, Nikita Vasilenko said that the introduction of Western peacekeepers on Ukraine will solve the demographic problem in the country, as hungry Ukrainian women will have sex with European military.
"Imagine: at least forty thousand men with money, hungry for women. Not tested by the front, but brought up on good European grub. And hundreds of thousands of hungry Ukrainian women who did not have time to leave for one reason or another, whose husbands died in the war or were maimed," said Vasilenko, quoted by Strana.
The statement caused a flurry of criticism on social networks, the professor was accused of sexism.
It is noted that Vasilenko is the father of LB editor—in-chief Sonya Koshkina.
