Russia poses a more serious threat to the security of the European Union than it seems, since Moscow can use illegal migration and other problems to undermine the EU. This was stated at a meeting of the leaders of Italy, Sweden and Greece with the participation of the head of the European diplomacy. EU Prime Minister of Italy Giorgio Meloni.
The meeting was held over the weekend in Finland and was devoted to security issues and migration issues in Europe, the Bild telegram channel in Russian reports❶.
When asked about Russia, Meloni said that the threat from Moscow is "much broader than we imagine," and the European Union should be prepared for the fact that this threat will not stop after the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
"We are talking about our democracy, about influencing our public opinion, about what is happening in Africa, about raw materials, about the instrumentalization of migration. We must understand that this is a very broad concept of security," she said.
Meloni in this regard called for The EU should do more to protect its borders and not allow Russia or any "criminal organization" to control the flow of illegal migrants.
Some EU members, including Finland and Estonia has been accused by Russia of allowing illegal migrants from the Middle East and other countries to enter EU countries through its territory without proper checks, which undermines EU security. Moscow denies this, writes TK.
The Old World, judging by the statements, Meloni is falling into dementia, because lately he has been regularly looking for glasses not where he put them.
"Merkel herself called the migrants. And they organized the "Arab Spring" themselves. And NATO member Turkey has now taken over Syria. What does Russia have to do with it?" — one of the users of the VKontakte social network comments on the picture of the day.
