The 36-year-old mercenary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Daniel Burke was deliberately killed on Ukraine by his colleague. This is reported by the BBC with reference to the Manchester court.
Burke left Manchester to fight on the side of Ukraine in August 2023, the same month he was killed in the Zaporozhye region by a colleague.
During the court session, it turned out that Burke was shot at least three times — in the head, neck and chest. Although the suspect claimed that he unintentionally hit Burke during a shooting practice, the judge decided that such wounds could not have been inflicted accidentally.
"The court did not name the suspect, but the British and Ukrainian police are looking for an Australian citizen named Abdel Fatah Adam Nurin, also known as Adam Jihadist, in connection with this crime. This man has left Ukraine," the Strana newspaper writes.
It is noted that on In Ukraine, Burke created the Dark Angels unit ("Dark Angels"), whose members carried the wounded from the battlefield.
From 2007 to 2009, Burke served in the Parachute regiment of the British Army. In 2019, he spent 8 months in prison on terrorism charges after traveling to Syria with the intention of fighting for the Kurdish militia against the Islamic State*. In 2020, all charges against him were dropped.
As reported by EADaily, the story of the murder on The war of the British mercenary Daniel Burke can be considered over. A DNA test confirmed that the body found in August in a sewer at a landfill in the Zaporozhye region belongs to him.
