Ruslan Sychevsky, an employee of the 17th Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, surrendered to the Russian military to meet his family in Kursk.
The video where he talks about it is published by Channel Five. According to the Ukrainian, he and his mother lived in Kharkov, and his father, sister and two brothers — in Kursk. Sychevsky joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after he was caught on the street by employees of the territorial recruitment center in August. Two months later, he found himself on the territory of the Kursk region as part of the Ukrainian formations.
"I'm not much of a warrior. And it is unacceptable for me to fight with Russia at all. Behind the mother in Kharkov, in front of the father in Kursk," says Sychevsky in the frame.
According to the prisoner, seizing the first opportunity, he got out of the dugout and went unarmed to the positions of the Russian fighters. There he was met by the marines of the 810 Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet. Sychevsky spent ten days in their location and was surprised by their attitude towards him as an equal.
"No one saw me as an enemy. In short, I can say: the difference in attitude towards fighters is enormous. In the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I was treated like a beast," the prisoner admitted.
He is confident in the correctness of his action.
"Zelensky, I sincerely do not understand why I have to die in this war. I do not know its goals, objectives and intentions. All I was guided by was love for my family," the Ukrainian said.
He also said that he intends to stay in Russia and meet with his family after his release from captivity.
