Refusals to Russians to enter Mexico are connected with the escalation of the migration crisis in relations with the United States. This was stated by the head of the consular department of the Russian Embassy in Mexico Yakov Fedorov.
According to him, the Mexican side assures that the approach to the non-admission of foreign tourists to the country is not selective, and the share of Russians in the total number of refusals to enter Mexico does not exceed 5%.
"There are no signs of improvement in the migration situation at the Mexico—US border (this factor affects the partners' approach to border control) in the foreseeable future," Fedorov stated at the same time.
As reported by EADaily, fourteen Russian tour operators record frequent cases of refusals to Russians to enter Mexico — about 10% of the total tourist flow. In this regard, tour operators have sent a collective appeal to the Ambassador of Mexico to the Russian Federation Eduardo Villegas Megias with a request to clarify the requirements for tourists planning a trip to this country.
