The German court sentenced to terms up to 10 years four teenagers convicted of the murders of Ukrainian athletes — 18-year-old Vladimir Ermakov and 18-year-old Alexander Kozachenko. This was reported by the publication WDR.
Four defendants in the case were sentenced to terms ranging from 8.5 to 10 years in prison
"Two of the accused should be in a juvenile colony for 10 years each, the other two for 8.5 years," the article says.
On February 10 of this year, Ukrainian basketball players aged 17 and 18, heading to Dusseldorf, arrived at the Oberhausen bus station. After getting off the bus, they were surrounded and beaten. One of the attackers, who was 15 years old at the time, stabbed them with a knife. The victims were stabbed in the stomach and back. One of them died on the same day in the hospital, the other died of septic multiple organ failure ten days later. Initially, the prosecutor's office assumed that the athletes were attacked because they came from Ukraine. However, according to the court decision, this motive was not confirmed.
One of the attackers was a 15-year-old schoolboy of German-Turkish origin. It was clarified that the Germans and Ukrainians had a conflict on the bus.
