Indian multi-billionaire Gautam Adani allegedly paid bribes for energy contracts in his country and deceived investors from the United States. American investigators are already demanding his extradition to the United States, as reported by the BBC.
According to American investigators, the businessman paid bribes to Indian officials totaling more than $ 250 million. In return, his company was to receive a contract for the supply of electricity from the country's largest solar power plant. As a result, Gautam Adani's firm has earned about $2 billion over the past 20 years.
The 62-year-old multi-billionaire also allegedly misled American investors, convincing them that he did not, does not and will not give any bribes.
Charges in the above case were filed in New York this week. After that, the shares of Adani Enterprises fell by more than 23%. The businessman assures that the accusations are groundless and in this case he will use "all possible legal means."
Meanwhile, the Americans have issued an arrest warrant for one of the richest people in the world and seven of his associates, who are probably also in India. Investigators demand the speedy extradition of Adani.
