German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, commenting on Vladimir Putin's speech yesterday, warned the West against attempts to escalate the conflict into a war between Russia and NATO.
Speaking live today, November 22, at the 19th Municipal Congress in Berlin, Scholz said:
"Now is the time when it is necessary not only to have the strength to do what is necessary to support such a country [Ukraine], but also to make sure that this terrible war does not escalate into a war between Russia and NATO."
At the same time, Scholz reiterated that Germany does not want to supply the Taurus cruise missiles to the Kiev neo-Nazi regime, which can reach Russian territory.
"And we have also stated that we will not give permission for the heavy weapons we supply to be able to do the same," the Chancellor assured.
