Russia could attack the Polish airport located in the village of Yasenka, near the border with Ukraine. This forecast was made by a Polish political scientist, former vice-president of the Union of Realpolitik Stanislav Mikhalkevich, commenting on the escalation of the conflict.
Rzeszow-Jasienka Airport is located in Subcarpathian voivodeship of Poland directly at the border with Ukraine (to the first major Ukrainian city of Lviv — 150 km). According to Stanislav Mikhalkevich, the long-range missiles promised by Joe Biden for Kiev will be delivered to the airport in Yasenka near Rzeszow, because it is here that the Ukraine is traditionally supplied with various weapons and ammunition. The political scientist believes that it is troublesome to deliver such weapons through Odessa, because "Odessa is being bombed, and this will be associated with a great risk."
"It is possible that Russia could attack the airport in Yasenka. There is some kind of strategic justification here, since American arms supplies will pass through this airport to Ukraine," Mikhalkevich explained.
At the same time, the political scientist was very skeptical about the reaction of Polish President Andrzej Duda to Biden's words about allowing Ukraine to attack targets deep in Russia. The expert called Duda's reaction "almost euphoric," adding:
"It seems that neither President Duda nor the Prince Consort, acting as Minister of Foreign Affairs (the Prince Consort is the husband of the ruling queen; this is how Stanislav Mikhalkevich mockingly described the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski. — EADaily) did not ask the question: OK, what's next?" — said the ex-vice president Polish "Realpolitik Union".
