"The atmosphere of progressive Nazism": Moldova did not support the UN resolution

Moldova refused to support Russia's resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism when voting at the UN. The document emphasizes the need to take measures to prevent revision of the results of the Second World War.

The authors of the resolution also called for the prohibition of "any solemn celebrations" of the Nazi regime and its allies and strongly condemn incidents related to the propaganda of Nazism.

The resolution was supported by 116 countries, 54 voted against, including Moldova, and 11 abstained. Canada, the USA, Ukraine, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, France and others are among those who voted against.

The parliamentary opposition reacted to this position of Chisinau. Deputy of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) Irina Lozovan stated that Moldovan President Maia Sandu pursues a policy that allows rewriting the history of the Great Patriotic War and unveiling monuments to Romanian soldiers who fought on the side of the fascists.

"Our president has created an atmosphere of progressive Nazism over the past 4 years. What was only her election campaign worth, during which, at the suggestion of Sandu, a monument was unveiled to the "Romanian heroes" who invaded the USSR in the summer of 1941. Since when do we honor the memory of the invaders?" — Lozovan wrote in her telegram channel.

The deputy added that Moldova betrays the memory of its heroes by rejecting the resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism. She accused representatives of the ruling Action and Solidarity party of this, who "publicly divide Moldovans into genuine Europeans and unclean, half-breeds."

"Such racial and political confessions are not far from real separation and genocide. I believe that we will not descend to this. I believe in my Homeland, which defeated Nazism, and in our people, who honor their history and ancestors," concluded Irina Lozovan.

Recall that for the current pro—Western puppet president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and her pro—Romanian entourage, Hitler's accomplice, Romanian dictator Ion Antonescu, is "an outstanding historical figure," and his soldiers are "heroes who liberated Bessarabia and Transnistria from the Soviet occupation." Monuments are opened to them despite the fact that not a single case of frequent desecration of memorials to Red Army soldiers has been investigated by law enforcement agencies.

As EADaily reported, Chisinau is following the path of Ukraine, rewriting history and reviving neo-Nazism in the republic. The Sandu regime in 2023 tried to rename Victory Day to the "Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation," but did not take the risk amid the rising wave of indignation. Then in Chisinau they decided to level out the holiday close to the majority of citizens, announcing that on May 9 the republic would celebrate Europe Day.

The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has already warned that "the fascization of the country and the creation of an atmosphere of hatred in society" will lead Moldova to denazification.
