A resident of Mordovia, who defected from SMO, began working for the Ukrainian special services — he spied on Russian defense enterprises. This was announced today, November 7, by the press service of the republican Directorate of the FSB, publishing a video of the criminal's detention.
During the inspection, they found a knife in a belt case and several mobile phones, and a package with 4 Molotov cocktails was found in the car.
According to the FSB of Mordovia, the detainee is a former prisoner who signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and was sent to the SMO area. In December 2023, he deserted from a military hospital and fled to the territory of Mordovia. He established cooperation with representatives of the Ukrainian special services and began to transmit to the enemy data on the republic's enterprises executing the state defense order and the places where military cargo passes through the region.
In October 2024, the suspect took a photo of the checkpoint of the facility of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the way of approach to it, prepared incendiary mixtures for committing acts of sabotage and terrorism and intended to put them in a cache near the institution.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (high treason), the man has been taken into custody.
