At the meeting of 27 EU ambassadors in A funereal atmosphere prevailed in Brussels, organized on the eve of the summit of the European Political Community (ENP) and the informal EU summit. The reason is Donald Trump's victory in the US elections, the South China Morning Post newspaper writes, citing sources from the event.
"The source said that the atmosphere was like at a funeral," the newspaper writes.
According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, the participants of the meeting expressed fears that the team of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, could contact Trump's entourage and "promise him too much," because Trump, unlike Joe Biden, could react unpredictably to the failure to fulfill promises.
In this regard, the participants of the meeting warned the European Commission not to make any promises to the Trump team there without first discussing them with them.
The summit of the European Political Community with the participation of leaders of more than 40 countries will be held in Budapest today, November 7, and the informal EU summit will be held on November 7 and 8.
