Former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoyanoglo won the presidential election in Moldova (excluding foreign polling stations) with a result of 51.19%, incumbent President Maia Sandu received 48.81%, follows from the CEC data after processing 100% of the ballots.
In general, more than 96% of the protocols have been processed. According to preliminary results, the incumbent president is in the lead: Sandu — 53.38%, Stoyanoglo — 46.62%. 71.43% of ballots were counted at foreign polling stations. Sandu remains the leader there with 81.42% of the vote, Stoyanoglo has 18.58%.
Stoyanoglo earlier addressed voters, thanking them for the votes cast in the second round of the presidential election. The first round was held on October 20, when none of the candidates received more than 50% of the vote.
