Experts have recorded a water leak at one of the reactors of the Zaporozhye NPP (NPP). This was reported on October 31 on the official website of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
It is specified that IAEA experts visited power unit No. 1 after receiving information about a water leak in the reactor coolant pump support system. To carry out the work, the pressure in the first circuit had to be reduced to atmospheric level. On Thursday, the group was informed that the welding work has been completed, and X-ray inspections of the welds are continuing.
"The Agency will continue to monitor this issue closely, although we do not see any immediate problems for nuclear safety. In general, we have identified regular maintenance of equipment, which is vital for ensuring sustainable nuclear safety, as a problem area for the Zaporozhye NPP during the conflict," said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
