Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately after the BRICS summit in Kazan met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who arrived on a visit to New Delhi.

During this meeting, the Indian leader shared with his guest his impressions of the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.

This was stated at a briefing by the first Deputy Foreign Minister of India Vikram Misri. He noted that India stands "on the side of peace" and is ready to support any peace initiative aimed at ending the conflict.

"The Prime Minister shared with the Chancellor his impressions of the meetings and interaction in recent months with the leaders of both Russia and Ukraine, as well as the steps that India is taking to negotiate with all parties to the conflict, and some of the ideas that various parties are discussing," Misri said.

In addition, in a conversation, Modi and Scholz touched upon the situation in the Gaza Strip. They expressed concern about developments in the region.

"The parties expressed the hope that the already serious conflict, which has led to great damage, casualties and destruction, will not expand and will not involve more actors in its sphere," the Indian diplomat concluded.
