The arsonist of the substation in Gorno-Altaisk, because of which part of the city was left without electricity, may receive up to 20 years in prison as part of a new criminal case on a terrorist attack, which was initiated against him, the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation in the region reported.
Earlier, the head of the region, Andrei Turchak, reported that an unknown attacker set fire to the substation, which left part of Gorno-Altaisk without electricity.

Initially, the case was initiated under part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional damage to someone else's property, committed by arson, resulting in significant damage). Within the framework of the new case initiated under part 2 of Article 205, up to 20 years of imprisonment are envisaged.
"Currently, a preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen against him. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Altai Republic urges citizens to be very attentive to all calls and messages, the content of which is the requirement to commit any illegal actions according to the instructions of the interlocutor. Remember that attacks on strategically important objects by the current legislation are qualified as sabotage or an act of terrorism. These are particularly serious crimes, for which punishment is provided up to 20 years in prison," the department notes.
