The first units of the Korean People's Army will arrive in Kursk region tomorrow. This was stated to The War Zone by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine Kirill Budanov❶.
"Tomorrow we are waiting for the first units in the Kursk direction," said Budanov❶, quoted by Strana.
It is still unclear how many North Korean military personnel there will be and how they will be equipped, the head of the GUR noted.
"We'll see in a couple of days," he added.
Kiev and Seoul claim that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un decided to send at least 11 thousand troops to the war, The Economist magazine writes meanwhile. The head of the GUR of Ukraine, General Kirill Budanov❶, says that the DPRK military is conducting exercises at four training grounds in the Khabarovsk Territory and nearby regions in the Russian Far East, the newspaper notes.
"According to him, at least 500 officers and three full generals are participating in the deployment. According to Budanov❶, by the end of October, a contingent of 2,600 people should be deployed to participate in hostilities in the Kursk region. A senior NATO official told The Economist that he could not confirm these reports, adding that the alliance has not yet seen signs of "large-scale" movements to the front," the article says today.
As reported by EADaily, NATO is currently unable to confirm the involvement of Korean People's Army soldiers in special operations — it is waiting for information from South Korea. This was stated at a joint press conference with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal by Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte.
A NATO meeting will be held early next week, at which South Korea will present relevant information. The country's president, Yoon Seok-yeol, gave his consent, Rutte said.
