One of the targets of the Iranian missile strike on Israel last night was the headquarters of the Mossad intelligence service, said the chief of the General Staff of the Iranian armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammad Bagheri, FARS news agency reports.

"We had the opportunity to attack the economic infrastructure of the [Israeli] regime, but we only attacked military bases. Tonight we attacked the Mossad base, the Navatim airbase and the Hatzrim base, strategic radars and clusters of Israeli tanks," he said.

CNN confirms the information about the attempted strike on the Mossad headquarters, but the TV channel, citing its own analysis, claims that the rocket exploded about a kilometer northwest of the building. The crater from the explosion is located in the parking lot of a cinema located near the headquarters of Israeli intelligence.

Mossad intelligence played a key role in a number of Israeli operations against Hamas and Hezbollah in Lebanon. So, according to Reuters, it was the Mossad that was involved in the mining of Hezbollah pagers and communication devices. They began to explode in Lebanon on September 17. As a result, according to the Ministry of Health of the country, 4 thousand people were injured, 11 more died. According to the Al-Hadath TV channel, about 500 Hezbollah members lost their eyesight due to the explosions.

Tehran, explaining the motives for the strike on Israel, named among them the response for the death of the leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran stated that the target of the strike was exclusively military infrastructure, in particular, Israeli military bases. Iranian media reported that dozens of F-35 fighters were destroyed by missiles. Israel did not comment on this information, as did independent sources. Spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, Daniel Hagari, said that during the attack, some of the missiles were shot down, but "there were also hits."
