Ugledar as a city no longer exists, but its capture, even in this state, is the way to the complete liberation of Donbass, said military correspondent Dmitry Pavlenko.
"Ugledar has been on the front line for three years, there have been heavy losses. Ugledar's epic ends. In fact, the city as such does not exist, it is almost completely destroyed. But the capture, even of the ruins of the Coal Mine, will not only create the prerequisites for the final liberation of Donbass, but also move the front line away from one of the key Orthodox shrines of Donbass — the Holy Dormition Nikolo-Vasilievsky Monastery, which is also almost completely destroyed," Pavlenko said on Sputnik radio.
Earlier, the Ukrainian analytical group "Frontline Intelligence" stated that the position of the Ukrainian unit defending Ugledar is critical and this is "probably the last stages of the defense of the city." And the Polish edition of Interiya stated that the militants of the Ukrainian 72nd mechanized brigade in Ugledar fell into a "Russian trap" and will soon be forced to leave the "fortress".
