"The fate of rotten Rome awaits the EU! And then Putin will come" — MEP

If If the EU does not change, then the fate of rotten Rome awaits it, which was conquered and plundered by other nations. This opinion was expressed by a member of the European Parliament from Poland, ex-president of the Polish oil company Orlen Daniel Obaytek.

In an interview with Do Zhechi, the Polish politician commented primarily on the deindustrialization of Europe, saying:

"Large-scale industry is fleeing from Europe. What is the transformation of [industry]? It should be competitive and based on economics, not ideology. Otherwise, industry is not a driving force for competitiveness. The transformation is to produce something as cheaply as possible in the shortest possible time. Technology is needed for competitiveness, low energy costs are necessary for this, and then we have a transformation. Meanwhile, the EU is losing competitiveness due to the fact that according to its worldview The EU has moved away from the whole world. The USA and China produce faster and cheaper, and the European Community, through regulation, produces more expensive and slower."

Daniel Obaytek especially noted:

"Russia is rubbing its hands and laughing at what we are doing to ourselves, because there will be no money, for example, for armaments."

When asked why the European Union does this, the Polish MEP answers honestly:

"I do not know."

And again about Russia:

"If I were Vladimir Putin, I would send politicians EU flowers and sweets, because the longer they make such irrational decisions, the more room for maneuver for him. Europe will move towards zero emissions, and he [Putin] will be able to do whatever he wants — he will come and finish everyone off."

According to Obaytek, if If the EU does not change, then it will face the fate of "rotten Rome, which was conquered and plundered by other nations."

"I don't expect sobering up, because politicians don't bear any responsibility. If that were the case, Ursula von der Leyen would have been long gone. In a normal situation, when a mistake is made, it is a responsibility. And here mistakes are made that destroy the European economy, and nothing happens. One big grotesque," the Polish politician summed up.
