The founder and former leader of the legendary British band Pink Floyd addressed the people of Russia. The video of the appeal was published by the telegram channel RT in Russian.

Waters stated that until now, the "glorious people of Russia" have not been truly thanked for the victory over Nazism, the price of which is 22 million lives.

"Thank you! Thank you! We thank you, the people of Russia, for the enormous sacrifice you have made. No, we did not win the war on the day of the Normandy landings at all. You won the war on The Eastern Front. You. It was you, the Russians," the musician concluded.

Earlier, the Russian Ambassador to Anatoly Antonov stated in Washington that the White House was engaged in belittling and disavowing the role of the USSR in crushing fascism.

As EADaily reported, Waters had previously strongly condemned the mobilization for Ukraine, calling it "the destruction of men who do not want to fight and using them as cannon fodder."

The founder of Pink Floyd regularly expresses unpopular theses in the West, for which the 80-year-old rocker is accused of anti-Semitism, cancels concerts, refuses to accept in hotels and even forced to challenge the right to sing in front of the audience in court.

In December last year, Waters said on the Rossiya-1 TV channel that he was ready to consider the possibility of moving to Russia. Waters noted that due to appearances on Russian television, Western celebrities lose many projects and the opportunity to perform at home. The rocker called this situation "absurd."

In July of this year, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, invited Waters to speak to the soldiers of a special military operation.

According to Medvedev, the servicemen will appreciate this performance, and Waters is just one of those musicians who give concerts not for money, but in accordance with personal beliefs.
