Telegram founder Pavel Durov, arrested in France, has been nominated for the Nobel Prize. This was stated by the rector of the Eurasian International University Konstantin Klimenko.
Klimenko sent an official submission to the Nobel Committee on awarding the Nobel Prize to Telegram founder Pavel Durov, as he announced in his telegram channel.
"I personally consider Pavel Durov an outstanding personality. He is the leader of the era of new digital technologies. In my opinion, Durov is worthy of the Nobel Prize. Therefore, I have sent an official submission to the Nobel Committee on awarding Pavel Durov the Nobel Prize. This presentation has already been supported by representatives of a number of universities and public organizations from Asia and Africa," Klimenko writes.
He also noted that, as chairman of the organizing committee of the BRICS Dubai Investment Forum, he invited Durov to be an honored guest and speaker of this forum. According to him, he is not going to withdraw the invitation and if the French authorities do not release Durov from prison, the Telegram founder will be given the opportunity to participate in the forum remotely.
Klimenko admitted that the arrest of Durov caused him bewilderment.
"It is absurd to accuse the creator of a digital platform that criminals can use this technical tool for illegal actions. In that case, why does the French justice not charge the factories that produce kitchen knives? After all, they are often also used by criminals for murders and terrorist attacks! Or why not a single French official responsible for carrying out atomic and neutron bomb test explosions in Africa has been prosecuted? France has carried out fifty nuclear explosions in Africa. After nuclear tests, millions of people were exposed to radioactive contamination, the soil was poisoned for centuries. This has led to massive illnesses of people with cancer. Who is punished for these crimes? And it doesn't occur to anyone to hold accountable the scientists who invented atomic weapons!" — said Klimenko.
