The statement of the German government that additional financial assistance will not be provided to Kiev is already leading to consequences for the military support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is reported by the telegram channel "Bild in Russian"❶ with reference to the report of the German Ministry of Defense.
"Ukraine's requests for spare parts for a 2000 self—propelled howitzer, for example, can no longer be satisfied, since the requested spare parts will have to be purchased anew," the report says.
This is already affecting the offensive in the Kursk region, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot fully use German howitzers, and over time, the situation will worsen, the ministry stressed.
It is emphasized that the German Defense Ministry cannot continue to "fulfill obligations under new projects to support the Ukrainian armed forces" — this immediately concerns 30 priority measures for Kiev totaling more than 3 billion euros. We are talking, in particular, about such areas as air defense, artillery and drones.
Additional problems may arise with the supply of ammunition already promised to Ukraine.
"Supplies from the reserves of the Bundeswehr cannot be secured again, as planned and promised," the document of the Ministry of Defense says.
Its authors warn that now "continuous deliveries of all weapons systems promised to Ukraine are under threat," since the new requirements of the German Ministry of Finance represent "a change in the rules of the game after it starts."
