The names of Russian figure skaters who died in a plane crash in the United States have become known

World figure skating champions in pairs as part of the Russian national team Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov was on board a passenger plane that crashed in the skies of Washington.

"On board the crashed plane were our coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov," the source told TASS.

52-year-old Shishkova and 55-year-old Naumov are the winners of the 1994 World Championships, they also became silver and bronze medalists of the world championships in pair skating, won one silver and four bronze medals at the European Championships, won the Grand Prix final of the International Skating Union season 1995/96. After the end of their careers, Shishkova and Naumova switched to coaching and have been living in the USA since 1998.

According to TASS, the bronze medalist of the USSR Championship in pair skating Inna Volyanskaya was also on board.

"There was an ex-Russian figure skating coach Inna Volyanskaya on board the crashed plane," the source said.

According to the Readovka telegram channel, there could have been more than 10 athletes on the plane, who had recently posted content with their training sessions. In particular, there was the son of figure skaters Shishkova and Naumov — Maxim. He took part in the championship in the USA and uploaded content from there. Also, previously, there were other athletes — Daniel Martynov, Andrei Torgashev, Spencer Lane. Coach Olga Ganicheva could also be on board — she posted photos from the training camp.

Some of the skaters could not get on the flight and got to Washington by another way. So, Ilya Malinin only miraculously did not get on the crashed plane — he confirmed this in the stories on Instagram*. In total, there were more than 14 figure skaters on board, including the Soviet athlete Inna Volyanskaya.

Telegram channel Mash published a list of athletes who could fly on an Airlines flight from Wichita: Andrew Torgashev; Maxim Naumov; Alisa Efimova; Misha Mitrofanov; Katie Macbeth; Daniel Parkman; Christina Carreira; Anthony Ponomarenko; Alexey Shchepetov; Annabel Morozova; Artem Markelov; Anton Spiridonov; Danila Savelyev; Jeffrey Chen.

Later, the telegram channel Shot clarified that Annabel Morozova, Misha Mitrofanov and Alisa Efimova were not on board the plane. Relatives got in touch and reported that everything was fine with them.

As EADaily reported, according to sports agent Ari Zakaryan, Russian figure skaters who participated in the 2025 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita at the Intrast Bank Arena were on board the crashed plane.
