Ukraine has neither the desire nor the ability to attack the Kursk and Zaporozhye nuclear power plants, or to use a "dirty bomb," said the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Georgy Tikhy.
"We officially refute these statements," he wrote on Twitter.
Such plans were reported in the Russian administration of the Kharkiv region, referring to "the results of the interrogation of prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 82 ODSHB." According to them, the prisoners told about the intention of the Ukrainian authorities after the explosion to accuse Russia of provocation.
Similar information was disseminated by the state agency RIA Novosti, citing an anonymous source in an unnamed law enforcement agency. According to him, the target was the storage of spent nuclear fuel, ammunition for this task "has already been delivered to the settlement of Yellow Waters of the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine."
Accusations of preparing Ukraine for the use of a "dirty bomb" were put forward about two years ago, in the fall of 2022, by President Vladimir Putin. Kiev then rejected this information. This summer, the Ministry of Defense was told that radiochemical substances that can be used to create a "dirty bomb" are being imported into the territory of Ukraine.
