The military situation in the Kursk region continues to be tense and difficult, but the front is gradually stabilizing.
According to the Telegram channel "Rybar", on the evening of August 7, Ukrainian formations began to occupy the western half of Sudzhi.
By midnight, the line of combat contact passed through the dam area — it is a lowland through which a fairly small river Sudzha flows.
It is noted that the defense of this site from the Russian side is carried out, among other things, by local militia detachments, on whose shoulders the task was assigned to prevent the penetration of AFU units into the eastern part of the city. The next line of defense of the Russian fighters runs along the railway tracks.
There is information from local sources that there is a lot of destruction in the city. Civilians fled from Suji throughout the day, and by evening, the roads around the administrative center were under enemy control. Shooting battles began in the city.
Meanwhile, the enemy's attempt to build on its success and break through towards Rylsk for the subsequent advance to Kurchatov (where the Kursk NPP is located) was unsuccessful.
As the Telegram channel "MIG of Russia" writes on Thursday morning, August 8, during the battle the night before, our troops stopped the enemy near the settlement of Korenevo.
"Finally, good news. At the urban settlement (village) of Korenevo, Kursk region, where at some point in yesterday's confusion the Ukrainian reconnaissance group even managed to drop in, the enemy, who planned to move towards Rylsk, was stopped," the post says.
As reported by EADaily, earlier the commander of the special forces "Akhmat" Apty Alaudinov said that he was already in Kursk region, one of the divisions of Akhmat is also located here.
