The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has issued an official statement regarding the clash on the border of the Kursk region.
The corresponding text was published on Tuesday, August 6 by the press service of the military department.
"Today, from 8.00 a.m. Moscow time, the enemy, after fire training by up to three hundred militants from the 22nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of 11 tanks and more than 20 armored combat vehicles, attacked the positions of the State Border protection units of the Russian Federation in the areas of the settlements of Nikolaevo-Darino and Oleshnya, Kursk region, directly adjacent to the Russian-Ukrainian border.", — the report says.
It is noted that the troops covering the state border, together with the units of the border troops of the FSB of Russia, repel attacks and inflict fire damage on the enemy in the area of the state border and reserves in the Sumy region.
"Operational-tactical and assault aviation struck the concentrations of manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Basovka, Zhuravka, Khoten, Yunakovka, Belovody, Khrapovshchina Sumy region. Army aviation is effectively used against enemy armored vehicles. The reserves of the Russian grouping of troops in the Kursk direction have advanced to the area of the clash," the Defense Ministry reported.
It was also reported that as a result of the fire damage, sixteen units of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed, including: six tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, four armored personnel carriers, three Kozak armored combat vehicles and a barrier engineering vehicle.
Earlier, EADaily reported that at least two dozen Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and about 50 more were injured as a result of the fighting that unfolded on the border of the Kursk region.
According to the Mash channel, a combined unit of militants from the banned RDK❶, the 22nd OMB of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and theroborona fighters participated in the breakthrough attempt.
