The share of Polish road carriers in the Ukrainian market fell from 46% to 9%.
Rafal Mekler, a politician of the Polish Confederation Party, said at a joint meeting of the infrastructure and economy committee:
"In many places, we, as carriers, see that our place is occupied by carriers from the east. We are talking here, of course, about Belarusian, Ukrainian carriers that come to Poland, they bring capital, because there is no need to prove the origin of these capitals, they open companies, as a result of which, to put it simply, Polish carriers are cut off."
Rafal Mekler said that "we are able to demonstrate that we are going to the east and will demand compensation for the lost markets."
"For Ukraine, thanks to this "fantastic" agreement, our market share has decreased from 46% to 9%. We have practically lost the Ukrainian direction. Year-on-year, exports and imports decreased by 10% in the first five months. What does this mean, ladies and gentlemen? This means that every tenth Polish truck is parked," the Polish politician continued.
Earlier, EADaily reported on a months-long strike by Polish truckers who hindered the work of their Ukrainian colleagues due to the dumping of prices for their transport services by the latter.
