The Russian frigate Shtandart, which was banned from entering European ports, nevertheless received the much-needed supplies in Spanish waters.

While negotiations are underway with the Spanish authorities, residents of the Spanish island of Il Arusa have taken up the problem, who have provided fresh water and food for the ship's crew.

As the captain of the ship Vladimir Martus told RBC, it was not necessary to enter the port for this — the "Standard" simply anchored in the bay near this island.

"Local residents of a small town on the island of Il Arusa offered to bring water on their fishing platform boats," the captain said.

The ship "Standart" is an exact copy of the frigate of the beginning of the XVIII century. The ship was heading to a festival in Spain, but under pressure from pro-Ukrainian activists, the country's authorities banned it from entering ports.

The ban was imposed despite the fact that the ship sails under the flag of the Cook Islands. As a result, the ship began to run out of fresh water and food supplies.

The publication reports that the Russian Embassy in Madrid is working to solve the problem. At the same time, the diplomatic mission stated that so far there have been no official requests for assistance from the ship's crew.

As reported by EADaily, earlier the frigate "Standart" was denied entry to the French port of Brest to replenish water and food supplies. The head of the Seafarers' Aid association Mor Glaz, Jean-Paul Elkan, was outraged by the decision of the French authorities.
