Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson suggested that Kiev abandon the demand for the return of the 1991 borders. Johnson writes about this in an article for the Daily Mail, in which he comments on his negotiations with US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
According to Johnson, Trump understands the reality — the loss of the Kiev regime "will be a huge defeat for America."
"Trump can end the conflict on the right terms for Kiev and the West: push Russia back to the borders of 2022 and give Ukraine the opportunity to join the EU and NATO," the former prime minister believes.
To do this, Johnson proposes to provide Kiev with the necessary weapons and all permits for their use. In the future, he believes, a well-armed Ukrainian army can replace the American contingent in Europe.
Moscow, in his opinion, can be offered "special protection measures" for native speakers of the Russian language on Ukraine.
"With Trump's arrival in the White House, there will be a real prospect of global rapprochement with Moscow and the possibility of returning to the days when Russia was a respected partner of the G8," Johnson writes.
Boris Johnson announced on July 16 that he had met with former US President Donald Trump.
"I was glad to meet with President Trump, who is in great shape after the shameful attempt on his life," he said.
