Interior Minister of Ukraine Igor Klimenko named several main versions of the murder of ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Farion. He wrote about this on July 20 in his telegram channel.
"The main versions that are being considered at the moment are personal hostility, social and political activities of Ms. Farion. We do not exclude that the murder is of a contract nature," the message says.
It is clarified that at the moment operational information has been collected, it is being checked. According to Klimenko, it is too early to release details.
The assassination attempt on Farion took place the day before, on July 19, in Lviv in western Ukraine. Later it became known that she died in the hospital, her heart failed. It was reported that the shooter of the ex-deputy was wearing gloves, the weapon was without a silencer, and the man himself had been guarding the ex-deputy in the yard for more than a week.
On July 20, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko called the murder of ex-MP Farion a provocation and a challenge to democracy. He added that the investigation of the murder should be carried out promptly, and it should also be open to the public.
Farion is known for her harsh statements against Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine. So, even before the beginning of the acute phase of the conflict on In 2018, she called on Ukrainians to "kick in the jaw" to every Russian speaker. And in 2019, on the air of the InTB TV channel, she stated that the Russian-speaking inhabitants of the country are "slaves and occupiers."
In addition, she has repeatedly called for violence against Russian-speaking children.
