Zelensky was bored while Aliyev shared oil supplies to "very sensitive" points

Azerbaijan has been a reliable supplier of energy resources to European markets. For almost twenty years, the republic has initiated and, together with its neighbors, put into operation a pipeline that for the first time in history connected the Caspian Sea and The Mediterranean Sea. This was recalled by President Ilham Aliyev during a speech at a round table on the topic "Energy and Communications", held on the eve, July 18, within the framework of the fourth summit of the European Political Community (ENP) in the UK.

"Currently, from the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in Turkey, we supply oil to various destinations, including very sensitive destinations that are heavily dependent on Azerbaijani oil. In some countries, the consumption of Azerbaijani oil accounts for fifty percent or more of their demand. For more than three years now, we have become an important gas supplier," the head of the Transcaucasian republic noted.

According to him, eight countries receive Azerbaijani gas: five EU member states, including Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Romania, two EU candidate countries — Georgia and Serbia, as well as Turkey.

Pointing out that an important event has recently taken place on the path of cooperation between Slovenia and Azerbaijan in the gas sector, Aliyev expressed hope that "within a few months we will be able to enter the Slovenian market."

"Now, after the implementation of European interconnector projects, Azerbaijan will have more opportunities to supply gas to other European countries," the Azerbaijani leader added.

The President of the country said that in 2024, the volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Europe will amount to approximately 13 billion cubic meters against 8 billion cubic meters in 2021. Baku is trying to do everything to fulfill its commitment to bring gas supplies to Europe to 20 billion cubic meters by 2027.

"This is our goal. We have the resources and infrastructure to do this. We need to accelerate the negotiation process with new partners, first of all with Slovenia and Slovakia, and work on increasing gas supplies to existing markets," he stressed.

On July 17, the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf and the director of Slovenian Geoplin Simon Urbanzl signed in Baku signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of natural gas supplies.

It is noteworthy that talking about the supply of energy resources to "very sensitive destinations that largely depend on Azerbaijani oil," Ilham Aliyev sat next to Vladimir Zelensky during the aforementioned round table. As commentators in the West noticed, the head of the Kiev regime at that moment had a very puzzled face and downcast eyes.
