The Russian Embassy in the USA has to explain procedures in preparation of diplomatic meetings, as the US State Department is “distorting the reality,” says a release on the Facebook page of the Russian diplomatic mission. The statement was made in response to US State Department note that the American side received no requests for a meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US State Secretary Rex Tillerson.
“We usually do not comment on preparation details of diplomatic meetings. But, as U.S. Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert again has distorted the reality, we are forced to state that the request for a meeting between Sergey Lavrov and Rex Tillerson was sent to the State Department on March 2. Several times we tried to get a proper answer. So far, alas, unsuccessfully,” runs the statement.
Previously, Heather Nauert said that there was no invitation or call regarding the proposed meeting.
