The Kremlin believes that whether the Ukrainian Supreme Rada decides to pass a law on suspension of the diplomatic relations, it is Ukraine’s sovereign business. However, the measure will have plenty of negative consequences, in the conflict settlement in Donbass as well, Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
“Ukraine has been taking many decisions recently, that had the most negative effects upon the conflict settlement in the south-western part of the country. Probably, if such a decision is taken this time, it will deteriorate the situation and, the most important, it will breach interests of the people both in Ukraine and Russia,” Peskov told reporters.
Meanwhile, he preferred not to answer the question who could be a mediator between Russia and Kiev, if such decision is made. “Hypothetical thinking is hardly appropriate here; if anything happens, a decision will be taken,” he said.
The Supreme Rada is to consider the law on re-integration of Donbass in its second reading on November 16. The bill is supposed to be amended by an article on suspending the diplomatic relations with Russia.
