On Sept 16, Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry confirmed the deaths of former Defense Minister Abduhalim Nazarzoda and a number of his fighters as a result of a special operation in Ramit Gorge.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon expressed his deep condolences to the families of law enforcers killed while neutralizing “Nazarzoda’s terrorist group” and promised to help them.
Rahmon’s web-site quotes him as thanking all those involved in the operation and all those who helped the law enforcers to catch the terrorists.
