President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed amendments to the law regulating admission and the conditions of stationing of foreign armed forces in Ukraine. Now, foreign countries will receive an official permission to deploy their troops in Ukraine.
According to Ukraine president’s press office, “the law provides a legal framework for an international peacekeeping and security operation in the territory of Ukraine by broadening the justification for granting foreign troops access to the Ukrainian territory and for their stationing in the country.”
Kiev has repeatedly voiced a possibility of deploying peacekeepers in the southeast of Ukraine. In response, Moscow said both parties to the conflict must give permission for the deployment of peacekeepers.
