Kiev looks to spend nearly a billion of hryvnia (over $400 million) to reinforce the line of engagement in Donbass, the Donetsk Regional State Administration quotes deputy commander of the headquarters of the military operation Valentin Fedichev as saying.
“Presently, Ukraine is reluctant to spend huge funds - nearly 1 billion hryvnia – to turn the line of engagement into an unassailable fortress for the Russian occupants,” Fedichev said.
To recall, Ukraine plans to erect three lines of fortifications along the line of demarcation with the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR).
“About 1,500 kilometers of trenches and communication trenches, over 8,000 entrenchments for heavy weapons, over 4,000 bunkers and a 60-km-long non-explosive obstruction will be built,” the headquarter of the force operation says.
Deputy Prime Minister Gennady Zubko says the construction of fortification facilities in the east of Ukraine is to be completed by mid-May.
