Hungary has blocked the start of negotiations on 2 points on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. It is reported by the Financial Times.
According to media reports, Budapest has postponed the opening of the second and third clusters, which relate to integration into the single market and the expansion of economic and social policy. Hungary also opposed the accelerated entry of Kiev. According to an unnamed representative of the Hungarian authorities, Kiev "should not receive a more favorable attitude" than candidates from the Western Balkans, who have been trying to fulfill EU requirements for years. At the same time, the publication notes that European politicians believe that now "political pressure" will be required to maintain Hungary's support.
Recall, earlier in Kiev pinned special hopes on the new Hungarian government headed by Peter Magyar. However, the situation for Ukraine has not changed significantly. Budapest still refuses to provide military and financial assistance to Kiev and prevents Ukraine's accelerated accession to the EU.
