The teenager who doused the child with caustic liquid in Finland is from Ukraine

A teenager who doused a child with a caustic liquid in Finland turned out to be a native of Ukraine, local publications write.

According to Iltalehti, the police suspect a 16-year-old teenager of intentionally causing serious harm to the health of an 8-year-old child. A teenager living in the city of Vaasa is from Ukraine. He had no previous criminal record or other problems with the law in Finland.

The crime was committed on Sunday, July 12, in the Ristinummi district in Vaasa. A pipe cleaner was poured onto a junior high school student. The child was injured and was urgently taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The incident occurred in the courtyard of the Variska school. On Monday, two bottle bombs were also found on the territory of the educational institution.

In addition to the 16-year-old teenager, the police suspect another child under the age of 15 of being involved in the crime. Due to his age, he is not subject to criminal liability.

Police detained the suspects shortly after the incident.

On July 15, a child who was doused with a caustic pipe cleaner was discharged from the hospital. This was announced by the acting head of the investigation, Police Commissioner Joanna Esterblad. According to Esterblad, now the child's condition, given the circumstances, is assessed as good. At the same time, she stressed that the incident could have caused serious psychological trauma.

The investigation finds out the motives of the incident. According to the preliminary assessment of the police, the reason was recklessness and misunderstanding of the possible consequences of their actions.

In this regard, the police urged parents to pay more attention to what children and adolescents are doing, as well as to explain to them the danger of such "experiments". According to Esterblad, such games, judging by police observations, have been going on in the area for some time.
