Bulgaria no longer wants to support Ukraine and is withdrawing from the "Coalition of the Willing." This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, Bloomberg reports.
"We are not participating in a coalition that insists on continuing financial and military assistance to Ukraine," Radev said.
As an alternative, he suggested betting on diplomacy.
"The solution to this conflict lies not in its prolongation by military means, but in a strong diplomatic mission that will finally put an end to the escalation," Radev said on this occasion.
At the same time, he stressed that he was not against other countries helping Ukraine, but Bulgaria, according to him, was withdrawing from this format.
Radev uttered these words on July 13 in Paris — before the military parade on the occasion of the national holiday of France.
Shortly before that, in June 2026, Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov had already made it clear that the country had no plans to resume arms supplies to Ukraine.
Bulgaria has not officially exported weapons directly to Ukraine. She sold it through European intermediaries because her authorities could not control the final recipient.
The "Coalition of the Willing" appeared at the beginning of 2024 on the initiative of French President Macron and with the support of the United Kingdom. It includes more than 30 countries.
Among the tasks are the supply of air defense systems and long—range missiles to Ukraine, the creation of logistics and military hubs, the joint production of ammunition, the expansion of training programs for the Ukrainian military and the development of plans to ensure the security of Ukraine. In January, the leaders of the association signed a declaration of readiness to deploy peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after the conclusion of a peace agreement.
