People's Artist of Russia actor of the Theater Troupe on Yuri Smirnov died in Taganka at the age of 87.
"The current actor of our theater, Yuri Smirnov, has passed away. The circumstances are being clarified," the theater said.
Yuri Smirnov was born on November 6, 1938 in Moscow. In 1963, the actor graduated from the B. Shchukin Theater School. His film debut took place in 1961. Smirnov's greatest fame came from his participation in the film "Bumbarash".
Smirnov's last work was the play "Strawberry Glade", in which he played the main role of Professor Isak Borg, for which he was awarded the Moscow City Prize in literature and art in the nomination "Theatrical Art".
Information about the date and time of the farewell will be announced additionally, the theater said.
